San Jose native participates in world’s largest international maritime warfare exercise

 

By Yeoman 1st Class April T. Copeland, Navy Office of Community OutreachPEARL HARBOR – A 2014 Notre Dame of Dadiangas graduate and San Jose, California, native is serving in the U.S. Navy as part of the world’s largest international maritime warfare exercise, Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC).

Petty Officer 3rd Class Jojo Dela Cruz is a boatswain’s mate aboard USS Essex, currently operating out of San Diego, California.

A Navy boatswain’s mate is responsible for performing routine maintenance throughout the ship.Today, Dela Cruz uses skills and values similar to those learned in San Jose.“Having a good work ethic and taking advantage of my time management skills have helped guide me to success during my career so far,” said Dela Cruz.
