| Dear Neighbors,
As you know, Councilmember Torres resigned shortly before being arrested last Tuesday.
Our D3 Staff is working with the Mayor’s Office ensuring your concerns are addressed while there isn’t a present District Three Councilmember.
Regarding the remainder of Councilmember Torres’ term, the Council has a few options:
(1) Hold a special election;
(2) Appoint a new Councilmember; or
(3) Appoint someone while a special election unfolds and the voted Councilmember is sworn in.
We will provide updates through our bi-weekly newsletter and share our work in the community along with resources and events happening in the district.
We would like to reiterate our staff’s commitment to District Three.
District Three’s prosperity has been our priority since we started and will be until no longer possible. Whatever may happen, we’ll ensure a smooth and seamless transition.
Thank you for coping with such an unprecedented development.
Thank you for your continued collaboration over the last two years.
District Three residents are some of the most determined people in San José that not only demand change but work together to enact it.
Our district will have continued progress not because of any person, but because of its people.
Once again thank you, for everything.
-Your D3 Staff
